Medical procedures are not normally a pleasant experience but it was not the case with Dr. Dylan Joseph and his amazing staff. My cataract removal was a walk in the park. I can only speak highly of Dr. Joseph and wish to thank him for my excellent vision.

After battling with eye issues for quite a while, I took the step of going for cataract removal and lens implants in both eyes. I was nervous at first, but thanks to the highly professional and friendly staff involved, it turned out to be such a positive experience! No pain at any stage. At worst, some scratchiness occurred at times just after the procedure was done, but this was quickly addressed by using lubricating eye drops. After 20 years I am finally free from prescription glasses. How blessed are we to have such an exceptional Eye Specialist and Opthalmologist in our town. In my profession, I depend on my sight to make a living. So, to have gone from -3.75 sight or 20/20 vision behind glasses, to a near 20/20 vision free from a plastic and metal confinement, I have not only been able to do my job unaided, but also enjoy the freedoms in sport, travel and adventure without any hesitation.

AMAZING!!!! Dr Joseph is in my opinion the best laser eye surgeon in South Africa! What an amazing doctor with such a caring bedside manner! I cannot recommend him highly enough if you need laser eye surgery.

It is currently six weeks after my Lasik eye surgery, and everyday I am still surprised by how much it has changed my life. It was extremely comforting to go in for a consultation and have a huge range of tests done, it let me know from the get go that they wouldn’t recommend a surgery that could harm me in any way and that they would recommend what was best for my eyes. The actual surgery was very quick taking at most 20 minutes. My eyes were very itchy for 24 hours and a little bit itchy for a week or two, but the eye drops they gave me helped with that, and I could see and function normally the morning after the surgery. I went from not being able to see my hand in front of my face, to better than 20/20 vision in 24 hours. If you are considering getting eye surgery I would 100% recommend going to Dr Joseph, at the very least go in for a consultation and have the tests done to see what your options are.

After wearing glasses and contact lenses for about 10 years, I began looking into eye surgery to correct my myopia. Dr Joseph performed Phakic Lens Implant Surgery on my right eye, and the results were a huge success. I no longer need to wear glasses and I’m so happy with my new vision! Dr Joseph and his wonderful team were extremely helpful and professional, making it a great experience from start to finish. Thank you so much Dr Dylan & Team, I am forever grateful!

Having undergone previous successful laser refractive surgery around 20 years ago, unfortunately my vision deteriorated rapidly in the past 3 years or so. I had been told that because of the prior laser surgery, it would not be possible to either have or achieve a good result with lens replacement surgery. Dr Joseph advised that this was not correct, (in my case at least). Two months ago he performed surgery on both eyes, my left astigmatic left eye requiring something called a Toric intraocular lens implant to correct the vision and astigmatism, while the right eye received a more standard multifocal intraocular lens. The process and potential outcomes were explained in detail, and supplemented with helpful videos. Since the day-surgery procedures, the only discomfort has been occasional dry eyes requiring eye drops, but this has slowly faded to now being practically negligible. I now have 20/20 multifocal eyesight, meaning that I do not require any glasses at all, and could not have hoped for a better outcome. Thank you to a very talented eye specialist and his professional team in Knysna.

After my wife had her cataract procedure and me having to collect her, I thought it might be a good idea to have a “check up “myself. My own eyes where done 10yrs. ago and at the time I only had two options. Either you could opt to have lens implants for near vision or alternatively for further vision. I opted for further vision with very good results. Dr.Joseph informed me after a consultation that things have advanced and with latest technology he could modify my one lens so i would be able to see far and have no problems with near vision. His suggestion was to laser the weaker eye for near vision. It is the second day after the procedure and gone is the specs. I am thrilled with the results which now means i do not need readers for golf or guess my way around a Garmin unit when cycling. I also need to compliment the team for their professionalism. It is a world class facility and makes one proud to know that this expertise is available on our doorstep.

I was one of the very first in the country to “brave” laser surgery to correct long distance vision some 30 years ago. Sadly, the operation was not successful and in fact my cornea was scarred to the extent that I needed to wear glasses all the time (multifocal) and have them replaced sometimes more often than annually (at significant cost over the years).

For the first time in 63 years, I can see without glasses! I now have a functional vision all the way from long-distance to reading: I can cycle without glasses, drive without them, watch TV without them. It really is amazing that cataract surgery has not only removed the haze but also corrected most of my other vision defects as well.

The procedures were quick and painless. Apart from a slight scratchiness while the tiny cuts healed there was no discomfort at all, and I was able to see perfectly well within an hour or two. From then on it just got better and better.

For driving and outdoor purposes I definitely need sunglasses now, because there is so many more light entering my eyes. The world is truly a brighter place…at least as far as my vision is concerned! I decided to have multi-focal photochromic lenses in my sunglasses, so as to have a pin-sharp vision for driving and also the ability to see really small objects close-up. But I don’t have HAVE to use them, and that makes all the difference. I am free from the tyranny of putting glasses on as soon as I wake up, and only taking them off when I go sleep. Wish I’d had that choice 60 years ago!
