This year has been a whirlwind to say the least.
From closing up two practices in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, to relocating my entire family to Ireland and starting afreash in the renowned, world respected, Wellington Eye Clinic in Dublin, it seems that these last 7 months have flown at the speed 7 days normally would.
But it is a move that we have embraced and thus far, loved.
Not only is it a magical world in which to raise children, but the fact that I am working as a consultant Cataract and Refractive Surgeon under the auspices of a world leader in Arthur Cummings, makes the reality even sweeter.
Not only is Arthur here, but a good friend and colleague, Graeme Rogers, who is decorated like a war veteran with the amount of fellowships he has done, is our resident glaucoma and retina expert at the Wellington Eye Clinic.
So into the deep end we have jumped, but having two colleagues work alongside me that I know well and highly respect makes me feel right at home.
This is a time for personal, family and academic growth on a scale we once found daunting, but look forward to with the same zest we try and approach life with..
