OPHTHALMOLOGY SOCIETY MEETING 2014

This year’s OSSA meeting was held in the beautiful Drakensburg, Champagne Sports Resort. So we decided to make a road trip of it(pretty brave or stupid) considering I have two girls under 3 years of age..but what a fantastic decision it turned out to be. Our first stop was Graaf Reinet for the night-there is an inexplicable magic about the More…

THE ELUSIVE ARGUS

This year was likely to be our best shot at a win. With great form and a number of seasonal classics under the belt including SA road champs and provincial champs, we were feeling good.   The Cape brought out it colours again on the day and made conditions difficult with wind gusts of up to 60km/hr..the first 50km straight More…

VALENTINE’S WEEKEND AWAY

We are blessed to live in such a magnificent part of this country..The Swartberg mountains are on our doorstep and so we decided to pop to Oudtshoorn for a weekend away.. We celebrated Valentine’s day in style with a bottle of Boplaas bubbly, and then I hit some tar and raced against the best from George…good day on More…

SOUTH AFRICAN ROAD CHAMPS

This year’s national road champs were held in a very humid Durban.. Gerhard and I decided to give the time trial a skip and focus on the road race. SA cycling legends remember Burry Stander

The 3rd of January 2014 was a sombre day across SA for the cycling fraternity. It marked the 1 year anniversary of a World champion mountain biker’s tragic death-South Africa’s own Burry Stander. The entire country held memorial rides, and pictured here are 2 South African road legends-Ashleigh Moolman Pasio and her husband Carl Pasio, alongside myself and Carmen, my More…

Farewell to a Nation’s Hero

I think a person’s success is measured not by what they have done whilst alive, but by the legacy they leave, and by the number of people they have influenced and loved. Such a person is Madiba..He lived for people and for the gratification of others…is that not what life is all about??…that is all we take with us when More…

Meeting Goggs and Poppa Jo

The most important time there is, is time with family..October 2013 was a fantastic month with parents and inlaws. Both sides of the family made the trip from Gauteng down to the majestic Southern Cape for a two week introduction to their new granddaughter. Above are my folks with Carmen and our “fair one” Jennah
